I-E-6. JULIA ANN MARIETTA ("MARY") SIBERT (1857 – 1934), daughter of of Jasper Sibert3 (David2, John David1)

Julia Ann Marietta "Mary" Sibert was born on 16 October 1857. She died of pneumonia on 10 January 1934, aged 76, in Craighead County, Arkansas. [1] She married Thomas Jefferson Faulkner. [2] He was born on 10 January 1853 in Tennessee. He died on 4 December 1929, aged 76, in Craighead County. [3] Mary and Thomas are buried in the Shilo Cemetery in Jonesboro, Craighead County. [2][1]

According to her death certificate, Mary Faulkner was the daughter of John[!] Sibert and Rebecca Brown. She was a widow. [1]

According to the census, on 22 June 1880, T.J., aged 26 and Julia M., aged 22, lived in Poland, Greene County, Arkansas with their children: James W., aged four; Leona L., aged three; and Charles S., aged seven months. T.J., born in Tennessee, was a farmer. On 25 June 1900, Thomas, born in January 1853 in Tennessee, and Julia, born in October 1857 in Alabama, lived in Poland with their children: Maggie N., born in May 1885; Mary E., born in January 1889; and Otis C., born in January 1895. Thomas and Julia had been married 26 years; Julia had had seven children and six were living. Thomas was a farmer. [4]

Thomas and Mary appear to have separated or divorced between 1900 and 1910. According to the census, in 1910, Thomas J., a 56-year-old widower[!], born in Tennessee, was living as a boarder in Jonesboro. He was a veterinary surgeon. Mary, a 52-year-old widow[!] lived in Herndon, Craighead County with her son Otis, aged 16. Mary was a farmer and Otis worked on the farm. On 22 April 1930, Mary lived in Leachville, Mississippi County, Arkansas with her daughter Maggie's family. [4]

According to the birth certificates of James Thomas, Charles Savage, Leona Lavina, and Rebecca Maggie, their parents were Thomas Jefferson Faulkner, born in Tennessee and Julia Mary Etta Sibert, born in Alabama. Thomas and Julia were residents of Walcott, Greene County. Charles was the third child. Rebecca Maggie was the fifth child; one of the earlier children had died. [5]

I-E-6-a. James Thomas Faulkner was born on 24 December 1875 in Walcott. [2][5][6] He died of cerebral thrombosis on 5 March 1952 in Jonesboro. [1][2] He married first Pearl White. [2] She was born on 14 March 1878 and died on 2 December 1913. [2] James married second Dora Kate Cole. [2] She was born on 6 November 1883 and died on 26 June 1973. [2] James and his wives are buried in the Shilo Cemetery. [1][2]

According to his death certificate, "Jim" T. Faulkner was the son of T.J. and Mary Sibert. He was born on 24 December 1874[!]. He was a farmer. He was referred to as a widower, but this is an error as the informant was his wife. [1]

According to the census, on 12 June 1900, James T., born in December 1875 in Arkansas, and Pearl, born in March 1879 in Illinois, lived in Lamar County, Texas with their children, Rutha, born in May 1897 in Arkansas and Cecil, born in October 1898 in Arkansas. James and Pearl had been married five years, and had had two children. James was a farmer. [4]

In 1910, James T., aged 34, and Pearl, aged 31, lived in Herndon with their children: Ruth, aged 13; Cecil, aged 11; and Vettrell, aged five. James was a farmer. He and Pearl had been married 15 years, and had had three children. [4]

According to his 12 September 1918 World War I draft registration card, James Thomas was a 42-year-old farmer who lived in Jonesboro. He was of medium height and build, with brown eyes and dark hair. He said his closest relative was his father, Thomas Jefferson Faulkner. [6]

On 17 January 1920, James T., aged 44, and Dora, aged 36 and born in Arkansas, lived in Jonesboro with their childen: Cecil, aged 21; Vettrell, aged 14; Ferrell, aged nine; and Nathel, aged three, all born in Arkansas. James was a farmer and Cecil was a farm hand on the home farm. On 18 April 1930, J. Thomas, aged 54, and Dora, aged 46, lived in Jonesboro with their son Ferrell, aged 19, and daughter Nathel, aged 14. J. Thomas was a farmer and Ferrell was a farm laborer. On 23 April 1940, James T., aged 64, and Dora, aged 55, lived in Jonesboro with their son Ferrell, aged 29. James and Ferrell were farmers. On 20 April 1950, James T., aged 74, and Dora K., aged 65, lived in Jonesboro. [4]

Children of James Thomas Faulker and Pearl White:

i. Ruthie May Faulkner was born on 1 May 1897 in Arkansas and died on 23 December 1977. [2][7] Ruth of Jonesboro married Oscar Allen Gambill of Jonesboro on 21 June 1914. [2] He was born on 12 February 1891 and died on 9 September 1980. [2] Ruthie and Oscar are buried in the Shiloh Cemetery. [2]

According to the census, on 14 January 1920, Allan D., aged 28, and Ruth M, aged 22, lived in Herndon with their children, Olga F., aged four; Fred A., aged three; and Orvil J., aged two months. Allan was a farmer. On 5 April 1930, Oscar A., aged 37, and Ruth M., aged 32, lived in Herndon with their children, Olga L., aged 15; Fred A., aged 13; James A., aged ten; and Mabron O., aged five. Oscar was a farmer. On 15 April 1940, O.A., aged 49, and Ruth, aged 42, lived in Herndon with their children: Olga, aged 25; Fred, aged 22; James, aged 20; and Mabron, aged 15. O.A. was a farmer. Children of Oscar Allen Gambill and Ruthie May Faulkner:

ii. James Cecil Faulkner was born on 18 October 1898 in Arkansas. [2] He died on 23 November 1969 in Seguine, Guadalupe County, Texas. [2][10] J.C. of Lamberton, Union County, Arkansas married Clara Mae Tadlock of El Dorado, Union County on 20 November 1923. [8] She was born on 28 November 1906 and died on 25 May 1969. [2] Cecil and Clara are buried in the San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin. [2]

According to his obituary, Cecil was survived by his brother, Ferrell Faulkner, and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Gambel, Mrs. Jess Stpehens and Mrs. Alfred Keen. [10]

Children of James Cecil Faulkner and Clara Mae Tadlock:

iii. Vettrell Faulkner was born on 9 February 1905 in Arkansas and died on 29 March 1996. [2] She married Jesse Lee Stephens. [2] He was born on 6 October 1899 and died on 14 January 1981. [2] Vettrell and Jesse are buried in the Macedonia Cemetery in Craighead County. [2]

iv. Ferrell Edward Faulkner was born on 17 December 1910 in Craighead County. [7][11] Ferrell Faulkner of Paragould, Greene County died on 23 December 1983, aged 73, in Paragould. [7][12] He married Bernadine Mouzy on 30 October 1953 in Greene County. [13] The divorced on 25 October 1971. [14]

Ferrell Edward Faulkner's 16 October 1940 World War II draft registration card names his father as his contact. [11]

Children of James Thomas Faulkner and Pearl White:

v. Agnes Nathel Faulkner was born on 11 January 1916 in Herndon. [5][7] Nathel F. Keen died on 12 October 2003. [7] Nathel Faulkner of Lunsford, Poinsett County, Arkansas married Alfred Keen of Lunsford on 21 October 1933. [8]

According to her birth certificate, Agnes was the daughter of Jim Tom and Lora Kate (Cale) Faulkner. She was her mother's first child. [5]

I-E-6-b. Leona Faulkner was born on 21 September 1877 in Walcott. [2][5][7][15] She died on 20 January 1976 in Los Angeles. [2][7][15] Leona of Finch [in Greene County] married George Washington Fields of Finch on 16 August 1899. [2][8] He was born on 2 July 1877 in Alabama. [2][6] He died in 1953. [2] Leona and George are buried in the Glen Haven Memorial Park in Sylmar, Los Angeles County, California. [2]

According to the census, on 26 June 1900 George, born in July 1877, and Leona, born in September 1877, were recently wed. They lived next to Leona's parents in Poland. George was a farmer. On 25 April 1910, George, aged 32 and born in Alabama, and Leona, aged 32 and born in Arkansas, lived in Powell, Craighead County with their children, Marvin, aged nine and born in Arkansas; Marietta, aged eight and born in Arkansas; Riley, aged six and born in Texas; and Elbert, aged three and born in Arkansas. George and Leona had been married ten years. Leona had had five children and four were living. On 17 January 1920, George, aged 42, and Leona, aged 42, lived in Jonesboro with their children, Marvin, aged 19; Riley, aged 15; Everett, aged 13; Jasper, aged eight and born in Arkansas; and Ivan, aged six and born in Arkansas. George and Marvin were laborers at a basket factory. [4]

George and Leona moved to California. On 9 April 1930, George W., aged 52, and Leona, aged 52, lived in Riverside, Riverside County with their married son Marvin, aged 29; their son Jasper, aged 18, their son Ivan, aged 16, their daughter-in-law Emily, aged 22 and born in Texas; and their grandson Rosco, aged one and born in California. George was a carpenter; Jasper was a laborer. [4]

On 15 April 1940, George W., aged 62, and Leona, aged 62, lived in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County with their son Ivan and his wife. George was a repairman on a turkey ranch. [4]

On 6 April 1950, George, aged 72, and Leona, aged 72, lived in Los Angeles. [4]

Leona's last residence was Camarillo, Ventura County, California. [7]

Children of George W. Fields and Leona Faulkner:

i. Marvin Aller Fields was born on 5 February 1900 in Walcott. [5][16] He died on 7 December 1972. [16] He is buried in the Glen Haven Memorial Cemetery in San Fernando, Los Angeles County. [16] He married Alma Lee Boulter. She was born in Texas about 1907.

Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Army on 18 October 1923 and was discharged on 19 October 1926. He was a sergeant in the 30th Infantry. [16]

According to the census, on 9 April 1930, Marvin and Emily lived with Marvin's parents. Marvin was a railroad worker. On 4 May 1940, Morian, aged 40, and Elma Lee, aged 33, lived in Los Angeles with their children, Roscoe M., aged 11; Bebe B., aged 10, and a possibly living child. Morian was a caster at a pottery factory; Elma was a starcher at a laundry. [4]

Children of Marvin Fields and Alma Lee Boulter:

ii. Marietta Fields was born on 20 March 1902 in Walcott. [2][7][15] Marietta Poitevint died on 8 June 1973. [2][7][15] Mary Etta of Lake City, Craighead County married first Price Jefferson Pollock of Lake City on 22 July 1917. [8] He died on 9 June 1955. [21] Marietta Pollock Poitevint (name on gravestone) is buried in the Glen Haven Memorial Park in Sylmar, Los Angeles County. [2] Marietta apparently married second ___ Poitevint.

According to the census, on 3 April 1930, Price J., aged 37, and Mary E., aged 28, lived in Craighead County with their children: Jinnie R., aged ten; Fields, aged eight; Joe Ann, aged three; and new born Lee O. Price was a rural mail carrier. [4]

Price and Marietta moved to California. On 5 April 1940, Price, aged 46, and Marietta, aged 38, lived in Glendale, Los Angeles County with their children, Jimmie Ruth, aged 20; Max, aged 18; Joan, aged 13; and Pricie aged ten. Price had completed a year of college; Marietta had attended school through eighth grade. Price was a sign builder in a sign shop and Jimmie Ruth worked in a beauty parlor. On 4 April 1950, Price J., aged 57, and Marietta, aged 47, lived in Los Angeles with their son, Thomas E., aged nine. Price was a laborer for a technicolor studio. [4]

According to his obituary, Price was survived by his wife Marietta; three daughter, Mrs. Vernon Hardin, Mrs. James Lee James, and Mrs. Pricie Bentley; and two sons, Maxwell F. and Thomas E. [21]

Children of Price Jefferson Pollock and Marietta Fields:

iii. Riley Henry Fields was born on 31 August 1904 in Paris, Texas and died on 24 January 1994. [2][17] He married Virgie O. Pach by a license of 21 November 1925 in Craighead County. [2][8] She was born on 5 February 1908 and died on 4 May 1995. [2] Riley and Virgie are buried in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. [2]

Children of Riley Fields and Virgie O. Pach:

iv. Elbert Fields was born on 10 November 1906 in Arkansas. [15] He died on 31 December 1985 in Madura County, California, where he had lived for 17 years. [15][27] He married Clara Estelle Berry. She was born about 1908 in Oklahama.

According to the census, on 3 April 1930, Elbert, aged 22 and born in Arkansas, and Stella, aged 21 and born in Oklahoma, lived in Los Angeles with their daughter Gwendolyn, aged one and born in California. Elbert was a laborer at a picture studio. On 10 April 1950, Elbert, aged 43, and Stella, aged 41, lived with a possibly living child in the household of Elbert's brother-in-law George A. Fee. Elbert was a truck loader and Stella was a waitress. [4]

According to his obituary, Elbert was a Jehova's Witness. He was survived by his wife Clara, his daughter Gwen McCorkle, and a possibly child. [27]

vi. Jasper Sibert Fields was born on 18 October 1911 in Walcott. [5][11] Jasper Fields of Lake City married Marysue Cheshire of Lake City on 31 August 1935 in Akansas. [8] She was born about 1915 in Arkansas.

According to the census, on 12/13 April 1940, Jasper S., aged 28, and Mary S., aged 24, and born in Arkansas, lived in Los Angles with a possibly living child and a son, Leland Derrall, aged one. Jasper worked in a wholesale pottery store. [4]

According to his 16 October 1940 World War II draft registration card, Jasper was born in Paragould. He worked for the American Ceramic Company. He named his father as his contact. [11]

Children of Jasper Sibert Fields and Marysue Cheshire:

vii. Ivan Charles Fields was born on 1 November 1913 and died on 15 January 1971. [2] He is buried in the Glen Haven Memorial Park. [2] He married Ruth Imogene Clay on 24 February 1939. [2] She was born on 18 May 1919 in Arkansas and died on 24 October 2006. [2] She is buried in the Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Verdes, Los Angeles County. [2] She married second Murad Muradian in 1982. [2]

On 15 April 1940, Ivan, aged 26, and Ruth, aged 20 and born in Arkansas, lived in Los Angeles with Ivan's parents. Ivan was a pottery caster. [4]

I-E-6-c. Charles Savage Faulkner was born on 15 June 1880 in Walcott. [2][5][7] He died in July 1973. [2][7] He is buried in the Pinecrest Memorial Park and Garden Mausoleum in Alexander, Saline County, Arkansas. [2] Charles Faulkner of Herndon married Elizabeth Smith of Herndon on 1 September 1901. [8] Elizabth, the daughter of Joe B. Smith, was born about 1881 in Georgia.

According to the census, on 25 April 1910, Charley, aged 31, and Elizabeth, aged 28 and born in Georgia, lived in Herndon with their daughter, Eula, aged seven, and their son, Homer, aged four. Charley and Elizabeth had been married eight years. They had had three children, and two were living. Charley was a farmer. On 24 January 1920, Charlie, aged 38, and Elizabeth, aged 37, lived in Jonesboro with their daughter Orlah, aged 17, their son Homer, aged 13, and Elizabeth's widowed father Joe B. Smith. Charlie was a farmer. [4]

In 1930, Charles, aged 49, and Lizy, aged 43, lived with their daughter Eula's family in Big Rock, Pulaski County. Charles was a laborer who did odd jobs. On 22 April 1940, Chas. S., aged 59, and Elizabeth, aged 57, lived in Big Rock with their son Homer. Chas. was a laborer. Both Chas. and Elizabeth had remained in school only through the third grade. [4]

According to his 27 April 1942 World War II Draft registration card, Charles aged 61, had a crippled right hip. He worked for the W.P.A. Mabelvale Garden Project in Mabelvale, Pulaski County. He named his wife, Lizzie, his contact. [29]

Children of Charles Savage Faulkner and Elizabeth ___.

i. Eula Thelma Faulkner was born about 1902 in Jonesboro. She married, as his second wife, Emil P. Benetz on 18 January 1926 in Pulaski County. [30] Emil was born about 1898 in Morrilton, Conway County, Arkansas. He married first Alma Mary Calhoun on 7 August 1920 in Pulaski County. [30] Alma was born on 5 December 1904 and died of gangrene on 15 May 1925. [1]

According to the census, on 8 April 1930, Emil P., aged 31, and Eula, aged 28, lived in Big Rock with their children, Marie, aged eight; Carl E., aged three; and Thelma R., aged two. Eula's parents also lived with them. Emil was a laundry marker in a steam laundry. On 8 April 1940, Emil, aged 40, and Eulah, aged 38, lived in Little Rock, Pulaski County, with their children: Carl, aged 13; Thelma Ruth, aged 11; a possibly living child; and Emil, aged six. Emil was a marker. He and Eula had completed the eighth grade. On 14 April 1950, Emil P., aged 50, and Eulah T., aged 48, lived in Little Rock with their son Emil P., aged 16. Emil was the manager of the annex of a retail furniture store. [4]

ii. Unknown Faulkner was born say 1904 and died before 25 April 1910.

iii. Homer Faulkner was born on 11 September 1906 in Jonesboro. [5][15][16] He died on 20 or 21 May 1975 in Orange County, California. [15][16][31] Homer, aged 24, of Little Rock married first Myrtle Ocaine, aged 18, of Lonoke, Lonoke County on 16 May 1931 in Pulaski County. [30] He petitioned for divorce on 5 January 1933. [14] Homer married second Helen Page on 9 December 1934 in Benton, Pulaski County. [14][32] She petitioned for divorce on 5 August 1937. [14] Homer, aged 34, of Little Rock, married Louise Bolding, aged 22, of Little Rock on 24 December 1941 in Saline County. [8] Louise was born on 15 March 1919 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas and died on 25 April 2009. [33]

Homer's delayed birth certificate was attested to by his father on 14 September 1945. It says he was the third child. [5]

According to the census, on 23 April 1940, Homer, aged 34 and divorced, lived with his parents in Big Rock. He was a repairman. He had graduated from the seventh grade. [4]

According to his 16 October 1940 World War II draft registration card, Homer, aged 33, was employed by the Boren Bicycle Company in Little Rock. He listed his sister Eula Thelma Benetz as his contact. [11]

Homer served as a private first class in the U.S. Army in World War II. [16] He enlisted on 20 March 1942 and was discharged on 11 October 1945. [31]

I-E-6-d. Unknown Faulker was born say 1882/3 and died by 3 May 1885.

I-E-6-e. Rebecca Maggie Faulkner was born on 3 May 1885 in Walcott. [1][5] She died of a heart attack on 22 July 1964, aged 79, in Jonesboro. [1] Maggie of Jonesboro married John H. Watkins of Jonesboro on 13 January 1906. [8] He died by 22 July 1964.

Maggie's death certificate says she was a widow. The informant was her daughter Aline Harwood. [1]

According to the census, on 18 May 1910, Walter J., aged 27, and Rebecca M., aged 25, lived in Black Oak, Craighead County with their children Webster L, aged two, and Irene, aged three months. They had been married for four years. They had had three childen, and two were living. Walter was a teacher. On 17 January 1920, J.W., aged 37, and Maggie, aged 34, lived in Jonesboro with their children, Irene, aged ten; Jeannette, aged eight; Virgil W., aged six; and Vandilla, aged four. J.W. was a real estate agent. On 22 April 1930, John H., aged 47, and Maggie, aged 44, lived in Leachville with Maggie's mother, Mary Faulkner, and their children, Irene, aged 20; Jeanetta, aged 18; Virgil, aged 16; Vandilla, aged 14; and Alene, aged 12. John, Maggie and Irene were public school teachers. [4]

Children of John H. Watkins and Rebecca Maggie Faulkner:

i. Unknown Watkins died by 12 January 1910 in Arkansas.

ii. Webster L. Watkins was born about 1907 in Arkansas. He died by 16 December 1911.

iii. Irene Watkins was born on 12 January 1910 in Macey, Craighead County. [5][7] She died in December 1982. [7] She married Ben F. Reid on 11 November 1934. [34] They divorced on 20 May 1970. [14]

Irene's birth certificate says she was the third child, and two were living. [5]

iv. Jeanette Watkins was born on 16 December 1911 in Black Oak. [5] She died on 24 January 2002. [17] She married first ___ Swank by October 1947. [17] She married second Albert Lee Caldwell by 11 May 1950. Albert, the son of Rance Caldwell, was born on 6 April 1887 in Arkansas and died of pneumonia on 13 December 1968 in Jonesboro. [1] Jeanette married third ___ Wiles by 7 August 1978. [17]

Jeanette's birth certificate says she was her parents' fouth child and two were living. Her father was born in Jonesboro and was a school teacher. [5]

The informant for Albert's death certificate was his wife, Jeanette. [1]

According to the census, on 11 May 1850, Albert L., aged 62, and Jean, aged 38, lived in Powell. Albert was a farmer. [4]

v. Virgil Woodrow Watkins was born on 18 October 1913 in Jonesboro. [2][11][17] He died on 22 February 1994. [2][17] He married Edith Mae Wilcox on 26 July 1937 in Indiana. [35] She was born on 7 November 1914 in Mississippi and died on 19 December 2010. [2][7] Virgil and Edith are buried in the Clifton Cemetery in Clifton, Bosque County, Texas. [2]

According to his 16 October 1940 World War II draft registration card, Virgil Woodrow worked for Dixie Greyhound Lines in Memphis. His contact was his wife. [11]

According to the census, on 19 April 1950, Virgil W., aged 36 and born in Arkansas, and Edith, aged 35 and born in Mississippi, lived with their two (possibly living) children in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Virgil was the service manager at an automobile factory. [7]

vi. Vandilla Watkins was born on 9 September 1915 in Arkansas and died on 14 August 2006. [17] She married Charles R. Wilson on 2 November 1936 in Cardwell, Dunklin County, Missouri. [28] Charles was born about 1907 in Missouri. He died on 6 Movember 1970 from burns received in a fire at his business. [36]

According to the census, on 19 April 1950, Charles R., aged 42, and Vandilla, aged 34, lived in Leachville with their possibly living child. Charles was the proprietor of a retail radio shop. [4]

vii. Alene Watkins was born about 1918 in Arkansas. She probably married first ___ Meyers and is probably the Aline Meyers who married [second] Thomas Carl Harwood on 9 January 1938 in Craighead County. [13] Thomas was born on 18 August 1907 or 1908 in Arkansas. [7][11] He died in May 1974. [7] He married [first] Pauline Summers on 16 March 1930 in Jonesboro. [13] They divorced on 2 June 1936 in Jonesboro. [14]

According to his World War II draft registration card, Thomas Carl worked for the Jonesboro Laundry. [11]

According to the census, on 3 April 1950, Thomas, aged 42, and Aline, aged 32, lived in Jonesboro with Thomas's son James F., aged 19; Aline's son; and Thomas's parents, Bert C. and Rosa Harwood. [4]

I-E-6-f. Mary Elizabeth Faulkner was born on 9 January 1889 in Arkansas. [2] She died on 20 December 1982 in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California. [2] She married Andrew J. Smith. [2] Andrew, the son of J.B. Smith, was born on 22 January 1887 in Georgia. [2] He died on 15 October 1953 in Bay, Craighead County. [2] Andrw and Mary Elizabeth were buried in the Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, San Joaquin County. [2]

At the time of his death, Andrew was a retired farmer. [2]

Children of Mary Elizabeth Faulkner and Andrew J. Smith:

i. Loyd Oscar Smith was born on 25 July 1907 and died on 12 February 2011. [2] He married Faye Odie Felty. [2] She was born on 22 May 1915 and died on 13 November 1996. [2] Loyd and Faye are buried in the Tayor Cemetery in Taylor, Williamson County, Texas. [2]

ii. Mildred Smith was born on 5 August 1909 and died on 12 July 1971. [2] She married Gordon V. Hickman. [2] He was born on 6 September 1906 and died on 7 March 1994. [2] Mildred and Gordon are buried in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. [2]

v. Rethie Smith was born in 1916 and died in 1917. [2] He is buried in the Caldwell Chapel Cemetery in Jonesboro. [2]

vi. Cecil Glenn Smith was born on 14 September 1927 and died on 4 September 2014. [2] He married Mildred Ann Carter. [2] She was born on 26 August 1931 and died on 11 July 2020. [2] Cecil and Mildred Ann are buried in the Olton Cemetery in Olton, Lamb County, Texas. [2]

I-E-6-g. Otis C. Faulkner was born on 5 January 1897 in Paragould. [2] [16][29] He died on 30 May 1960, aged 63. [2][16][37] He married first Lizzy ___ about 1914. Otis of Jonesboro married [second] Vivian Williams of Jonesboro on 17 February 1923. [13] Vivian, the daughter of Wiley and Annie Wilson, was born on 24 January 1902 and died on 29 September 1986. [2] Otis and Vivian were divorced on 29 April 1943 in Craighead County; Otis claimed Vivian deserted him. [14] Vivian married second Norman E. Nelson in 1944. [2] Otis and Vivian are buried in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. [16]

According to Otis's 5 June 1918 World War I draft registration card, his nearest relative was his wife Lizzy. [6]

Otis enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private on 6 September 1918 and was discharged on 23 December 1918. [16]

According to the census, on 7 April 1930, Otis, aged 34 and born in Arkansas, and Vivian, aged 28 and born in Arkansas, lived in Jonesboro with their son William E., aged five. Otis had married first at age 19. He was a barber. On 11 April 1940, Otis, aged 43, and Vivian, aged 38, lived in Jonesboro with their son Billie, aged 15; daughter Patsy Ann, aged two; and Vivian's widowed mother Anna. Otis was a barber; he had completed the seventh grade. [4]

According to his 27 April 1942 World War II draft registration card, Otis was living in a hotel in Jonesboro and working at a barber shop. [29]

On 13 April 1950, Otis lived in Stockton, San Joaquin County, California. He was listed in the census with a group of men at missions in Stockton who were unemployed and looking for work, supported mostly by charity. He was 54 years old and divorced. [4]

Otis's son, William E. Faulkner, applied for a military headstone for Otis. [16]

i. William E. Faulkner was born on 25 September 1924 in Arkansas and died on 12 February 2019. [2] He married first Betty Ruth Smittle. [2] Betty, the daughter of Alfred Earl and Gladys Estelle (Nevil) Smittle, was born on 25 January 1924 and died on 8 March 1982. [2] William and Betty are interred in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky. [2]

ii. Patsy Ann Faulkner was born on 19 October 1937 in Arkansas and died on 31 August 1998. [2] She married John Olin Smittle. [2] John, the brother of Patsy Ann's brother William's wife, was born on 21 October 1929 and died on 12 August 1990. [2] Patsy Ann and John are buried in the Cherry Fork Cemetery in Cherry Fork, Adams County, Ohio. [2]
